Who is eligible to apply?

Full-time undergraduate students at accredited U.S. colleges and universities with a minimum 2.5 GPA. No prior Korean language study required.

Not at all! Stanley Abroad is open to students from all majors. Many courses can fulfill general education or elective requirements.

You’ll typically need:

  • A valid passport (or proof of application)
  • Your university transcript
  • A short statement of interest
  • Emergency contact info
  • Course preference list (provided later)

We recommend applying early, as visa processing and housing fill up fast.

Yes — all academic courses are taught in English. Korean language courses are optional.

Yes. Courses are pre-approved through and credit transfer is usually seamless. We provide syllabi in advance for your academic advisor.

Yes. Each dorm has study lounges, and the campus includes libraries and quiet areas.

Do I need a passport?

Yes. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your return date. Apply as soon as possible if you don’t already have one.

Yes, for semester or yearlong programs. You’ll apply for a D-2 Student Visa once you receive your acceptance documents. For summer/short-term stays under 90 days, a K-ETA may suffice.

Around 4–6 weeks. Your passport must be submitted during this time, so avoid international travel while it’s being processed.

Yes. Check with both your home country and the Korean consulate about specific visa steps.

All students live in on-campus double-occupancy dorms with:

Yes, you can request a roommate on your housing form.

Yes — South Korea is one of Asia’s safest countries, with excellent healthcare and reliable public transport.

Yes. Students are required to have international health insurance during their stay. Check if your university provides coverage or if you’ll need to purchase it separately.

How much does the program cost?

The estimated fee per semester is $16,000. This includes:

  • Full tuition (up to 19 credits)
  • On-campus housing
  • Orientation & visa support
  • 24/7 student services
  • Cultural excursions

You’ll need to budget for:

  • International insurance
  • Personal spending money

Yes. Most U.S. students are able to apply their federal financial aid, loans, and/or scholarships. Check with your home university.

Yes, but refund amounts depend on when you withdraw. The closer to the start date, the smaller the refund. Full refund and withdrawal policies will be outlined in your enrollment agreement.

Yes. We accept major credit cards. You can also pay by bank transfer or personal check.

We recommend ~$1,500–$2,500 per semester for food, travel, and extras — though this varies by student lifestyle.

Who can apply to the Study Korea program at Dankook University?

You must be a full-time student currently enrolled at a university and have completed at least one semester at your home institution. A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.5 scale (or equivalent), good physical and mental health, and English or Korean language proficiency are required. Exchange students must be nominated by their home university, while visiting students may apply directly.

  1. Submit your application and supporting documents to Stanley Abroad.
  2. Stanley Abroad will assist you with nomination (if applicable) and guide you through Dankook’s application process.
  3. Create an account on Dankook’s application portal and complete the online form.
  4. Upload required documents, such as your passport, transcripts, study plan, and certificate of enrollment.

Additional documents may be requested.

Once your complete application has been submitted, the screening process begins shortly after the application deadline. You will typically be notified of the outcome within six weeks. Stanley Abroad will assist in monitoring your application status and keep you informed throughout the process. If accepted, you will receive an official acceptance letter and a Certificate of Admission from Dankook University, which are required for your student visa application.

Yes. A student visa (D-2) is required. After receiving your acceptance package, contact your nearest Korean embassy or consulate as early as possible, as processing times vary.

You must have private health insurance from your home country that covers your entire stay in Korea, including hospitalization, sickness, and accidents. You’ll also need to subscribe to Korea’s National Health Insurance unless you qualify for an exemption.

  • A wide range of courses in English are available at Jukjeon Campus (e.g., Business, Law, Engineering, Humanities).
  • Courses in Korean are open to students with at least TOPIK Level 3.
  • You may register for up to 19 credits per semester, including intensive Korean language courses.

Yes. Exchange/visiting students can enroll in courses from any department and year, provided they meet prerequisites (if any) and seats are available. We recommend reviewing course syllabi and discussing transferability with your home institution.

Course lists for each semester are released about one month before the term begins. Use the downloadable PDF course lists or access the DKU portal (in Korean) to search catalogs and syllabi. Stanley Abroad can assist if needed.

No. English-taught courses are only offered at Jukjeon Campus and we are only offering our Study Abroad program in Jukjeon. Students not proficient in Korean should apply for this campus.

  • On-campus housing is guaranteed if selected during the application.
  • Dorm: Woongbi Hall (Jukjeon)
  • Rooms are double occupancy only.
  • Early move-in or extended stays are not allowed.
  • One-on-one buddy program with Korean students
  • Cultural excursions and social events hosted by student ambassadors
  • Convenient location near Seoul (Jukjeon campus)
  • Language tutoring and free housing opportunities available through some programs
You’re allowed to live off-campus, but Dankook does not arrange or endorse external housing. You must independently secure accommodation and carefully review any housing contracts.
Yes, but students staying for two semesters must remain in the dorms during the break between semesters. This does not restrict you from traveling or visiting home—it only means you must maintain dormitory residency.

Dankook provides syllabi and official transcripts. However, it’s your responsibility to consult with your academic advisor to ensure credits will be accepted by your home institution.

There’s no strict minimum, but Dankook recommends taking at least 9 credits per semester to ensure a meaningful academic experience.
